The central Florida area is seeing massive amounts of rainfall which started last night and now they are saying will last through parts of next week. Of course this had to happen while we were here!!
They have forecast up to 7-inches of rainfall in our immediate area from 8 a.m. this morning until Wednesday afternoon. Obviously we are already seeing local flooding.
But during a break in the weather, we ventured out for lunch to our favorite local restaurant - Down The Hatch. Have I told you how much I LOVE this restaurant?!?!? Well we were literally the ONLY customers for most of the time we were there. We were later joined by a nice local grandma and grandpa couple. We all enjoyed the fresh local catches of the day - grouper and trigger fish. And the waitresses even pointed out three dolphins to Grace - although Grace told them that they were sharks and that they should watch out because the sharks wanted to eat her hot dog and French fries!
But of course as soon as we left the restaurant the deluge of rain continued!
We stayed at the condo for most of the rest of the day - venturing out only for McDonalds ice cream for the girls and also to walk through Dollar Tree just for a change of scenery and to find some coloring books for Grace. (We desperately needed something different for her to do.)
Within the last two hours however we've started getting straight-line winds and heavy, heavy rain - so much so that it is leaking in through the hurricane shutters and the carpet near the big ocean-side window is sopping wet despite our best efforts to mop up what we can.
The news channels say that it isn't yet a tropical storm but could become one later this week. We're just going to do the best that we can while we're here. They say that there may be a brief break in the weather tomorrow - so we'll see.
But at least we were able to get to the beach and the pool on Saturday and Sunday! I would post pictures, but our Internet access is pretty limited here.
We'll keep you posted!!
