More birthday party pics

Here are more birthday party pictures. (Be sure to click on OLDER POSTS at the bottom of the page. Since I'm posting so many pictures, some have been send to page 2.)

After we met the rabbit and the tortoise and had cake and opened presents, we set off to check out the zoo. Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines is one of our favorite places to go. Grace especially loves the train and the penguins.

Grace and Katelyn riding on the train.
This goat quickly made friends with Colby.

Katelyn helped Grace until she realized that the goats just wanted to tickle your hands.

Grandpa feeds the llamas. (Watch out! They spit!)

The big birthday party!

We held a joint birthday party on June 6th for Grace (turned 3), Emilia (turned 1) and cousin Jenai (turned 2). It was a lot of fun and the kids got to meet and pet a rabbit and a tortoise.

Katelyn & Colby weren't shy at all about petting the tortoise. But they were very strict that you only pet with two fingers and then you had to use lots of hand sanitizer too. Sounds like a mom made these rules!

The birthday girls!

Emilia is ready to blow out her very first candle!

Grace - eating like a princess! Although she will only eat the frosting. It must be a rule for her because she'll only eat the frosting off of cake, donuts, brownies, you name it - she's a frosting kid!

Chocolate! My kinda girl!!

Happy Birthday Emilia

So yes, Emilia has been 1 for a few weeks now. I just haven't had a chance to post any pictures. Emilia celebrated her first birthday at the farm and had some leftover cake from Grace's birthday. She got her own cake at the birthday party that weekend. (I will post pictures of this soon.) But needless to say as you can tell from these pictures, Mimi was happy as could be with a party hat!

Paul is in Oregon

Paul made it safe and sound out to grad school in Oregon. He left yesterday morning and was out there by 8 p.m. his time - 10 p.m. Iowa time.
Classes begin on Sunday and he and Mike (colleague from Fort Dodge who is also attending) plan to do some sight seeing today as well as to get ready for classes.
Some of you have inquired about sending Paul cards or treat boxes or whatever. I'll post his address below, but please don't mail anything after June 30. ABC asks that nothing be mailed after that date just to ensure that it gets to the people it needs to and that they don't have extra mail laying around after the last sesssion.

New blog

We are extremely behind in posting to the blog. I apologize!
It has been extremely busy since moving in a few weeks ago. On top of that, both girls and I came down with a nasty case of the flu and bad colds (at the same time - of course!) and we are getting Paul ready to head out to grad school for three weeks. We leave for the airport in two hours.
I promise to get caught up with birthday pictures and others within the next couple of days!!
However we have also started a new blog that details the work being done on the farm. I know that quite a few of you have asked what we are up to on the farm remodel and move in.
You can log on at: http://thebloomquistfarm.blogspot.com
I will also put a link in the side Links column.
We just posted on the Farm blog - and we will try to update you here when we update that blog.
We wanted to keep this blog about the girls as we try to print it out to keep for them as keepsakes.

Hooray!

We went back to Manson today to pick up the few odds and ends that we had left in the house.
Paul is hoping to clean the house tomorrow before closing on Friday.
But when we pulled up to the house, we were greeted by this sign.
We loved this house and it was a great house for us. I'll be sad to see it go, but am very excited for the farm.

Happy Birthday Grace!

Gracie turned 3 years old today! It's so hard to believe that she is becoming such a little lady!

We had a small celebration today as we are having a big birthday party at the Blank Park Zoo with little sister, Emilia, and cousin Jenai on Saturday.

I couldn't find my digital camera. It's somewhere amongst our many moving boxes. Thank goodness for cell phone cameras!!

How can you have a third birthday party without Dora the Explorer?

This is our second time blowing out the candles. Grace blew them out just as soon Paul lit them. We didn't even get to sing before she blew them out!

Cheese!!

After we enjoyed Grace's birthday cake, we headed into town to play on the school playground. I would have gotten a picture of Grace, but as soon as she saw the two big curvy slides, she took off. We had to peel her off of the big slide when it was time to go!

One birthday down - one to go! Emilia will be 1 on Wednesday! Where did the time go?
